All humans have unconscious biases. Laws, policies and technology cannot eliminate them. Humans must remove them. The Sun Poem can ignite the change that must come from within. We present a program that features a 30-second animated Sun Poem—an evocative tool for self-reflection and dialogue. Through this experience, individuals can recognize unconscious biases, illuminate their impact, and take steps to remove them."

Approach: Facilitate a meaningful dialogue by using the animation of the Sun Poem as a catalyst for discussion. Through this experience, participants will explore the poem’s meaning and reflect on its impact, fostering deeper awareness and connection.

Goal of the Dialogue: To foster self-reflection, encouraging individuals to look inward, embrace honesty, and lean into discomfort as a path toward growth.

Procedure: Invite people to watch the animation of the Sun Poem and reflect on what it makes you think and feel. Do exercise twice.

Start the conversation by asking what impact did the animation make? Then Proceed with the following questions:

1. What did it make you think?
2. What did it make you feel?
3. What message did it convey to you?
4. What impact could it have on how you view your colleagues at work?
5. What impact could it have on how you view people in your community?
