2011 Annual Report

World Unity, Inc. continued to do intense research in exploring new options and possibilities to overcome the challenges presented by the down economy. 

We achieved a significant milestone.  We collaborated with the Boston Architectural College on a design competition for the World Unity Landmark.  A jury unanimously selected a design concept.  We secured a breathtaking design concept that continues to generate great responses from leaders in the community.  We presented Mass Port with an exciting idea “ to present the design concept at Logan Airport" to welcome the Urban League’s National Conference in Boston.  Mass Port embraced the idea and showcased the winning design concept at all five terminals.

The revenues generated for fiscal year 2011 totaled $39,000 dollars and the total expenses for the year were $25,657.  Our 15th Annual Diversity and Inclusion Gala, November 22, 2010 raised about $33,700 and our expenses were about $10,230.  We continued to maintain many of our keynote sponsors as well as secure new sponsors.  Macy’s and TJX were new sponsors. The keynote speaker was Fay Donohue, CEO of Delta Dental of Massachusetts. 

We co-sponsored with WROR FM, the 7th Annual Statewide poetry contest promoting diversity and equality.  We had over to 230 entries from 16 school districts. We continue to strengthen our board with new energy, talent and leadership.  We added Vanessa Charles, Allan Newsome, Danny Garriga Sr. System Analyst, and Carlton Grant.
