40‑year journey of bringing the Sun Poem to Boston, America, and the World
The year 2025 marked a powerful surge of momentum for President Sara Ting and World Unity Inc. It celebrated Sara’s 40‑year journey of bringing the Sun Poem to Boston, America, and the world, and the organization’s 33 years of advancing unity and inclusion. This milestone year propelled World Unity Inc. onto the global stage, earning a Global Unity Award from the Business Frontier Leadership Conclave and Awards. Sara was invited to deliver a keynote address in Dubai, where she received the Beacon of Global Unity Award — a testament to the growing international impact of the Sun Poem and the movement it continues to inspire.
We launched the year with our 4th national public service campaign promoting Sun Poem on 81 digital billboards donated across America. We surpassed last year’s number of 74. The billboard industry continues to support our efforts to share \ the Sun Poem with America. Many companies donate more than one space some have doated as many as spaces on 10 digital billboards. We reach out to billboard companies in major cities across the country. The industry continues to work with us to build awareness for the poem and plant it in their cities and the consciousness of our country. It continues to be a major initiative that receives generous support from the billboard industry.
We sponsored our 27th Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Event, with Dr. James Whitley, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost at Roxbury Community College, serving as our keynote speaker. This year we were deeply impacted by the Trump administration’s dismantling of all federal DEI programs and its public attacks on them, resulting in the loss of four sponsors. Yet even in this challenging climate, we continued advancing our mission and earned global recognition for our work. Most importantly, we know we have taken on a profound mission to help change the consciousness of the world, following Einstein’s insight: You cannot solve a problem with the same consciousness that created it. You must stand on higher ground.’ The Sun Poem can take us to that higher ground and ignite the change that must come from within. The total funds we raised for the year were $51,144. Together, these experiences reminded us that even in a year of national headwinds, our mission is advancing — and the movement is growing.
We have not made any significant impact with Singing Equality Across America and Around the World this year. Even though the song is non‑political and rooted in universal humanity, we believe many teachers may worry that anything touching on equality, inclusion, or social themes could be misinterpreted by parents, administrators, or their district. In today’s climate, teachers often avoid anything that could be perceived as controversial — even when it isn’t.
We continued to receive a $2,500 grant from the Mass Cultural Council to support the Sun Poem and the Concert to Empower and Inspire Humanity. Sara delivered a half‑hour presentation on the Sun Poem, shared the story of its origin and guided the audience through a reflective exercise to explore its message. John Ciambriello, who wrote We All See the Stars—the song inspired by the Sun Poem—performs the piece along with a selection of his original songs. This year it was performed at Church in Jamaica Plain.
We continued to secure leaders from diverse professions, cultures and backgrounds to participate in World Unity Inc.’s 5-Minute Leadership Dialogue to enlighten, empower and inspire viewers with the mind and heart of a leader.
