Unity Symbol is Needed in Boston...
In a city like Boston, which has repeatedly received
attention for its shameful resistance to racial diversity, a high profile symbol
of world unity would be a most welcomed site.
Such is the mission and vision of World Unity, Inc., an organization founded in
1993 with the goal of constructing the Sun Unity Tower, a landmark which
promotes equality, diversity and unity among all people. The envisioned glass
symbol will carry the following message:
“Are you greater than the sun,
that shines on everyone: Black,
Brown, Yellow, Red and White
the sun does not discriminate”
El Mundo Newspaper would like to add its name to the list of endorsements that
this project has already received. With enthusiastic support from over 25
organizations across the Commonwealth, including that of Senators Edward
Kennedy and John Kerry, Governor Paul Cellucci, Mayor Thomas Menno
and the late Congressman Joseph Moakley, as well as a Boston City Council
resolution, the idea to build this symbol by the waterfront is one that should
excite and involve all
citizens.
El Mundo encourages Latinos of all countries of origin and Latino organizations
across the state to join in this historic endeavor. A collective effort would
help to change Boston's image from that of a diversity-intolerant city to one
that embraces differences.
Find out how you can get involved and do it today.
