Weekdays at 5AM, 6AM, and
Noon
Frances Rivera is the 7NEWS co-anchor of "Today in New
England" weekday newscasts at 5AM and 6AM with Sean Hennessey as well as
"7NEWS at Noon" with Jonathan Hall. Additionally, she reports during the
week for 7NEWS.
Rivera joined 7NEWS in October 2001 from KWTV
(CBS), in Oklahoma City. Before that she was with KFDX (NBC), in Wichita
Falls, Texas. Rivera also spent four years in New York City working behind
the scenes at CBS News on the "CBS This Morning" show. In addition, she
spent a year with the network’s political unit- on the campaign trail
following the major events for CBS’s national coverage of the ’96
Presidential Election. During that time, she was a freelance co-host and
reporter for the nationally syndicated PBS program "Asian America."
Frances grew up, oldest sister to two younger
brothers, in Dallas, Texas. However, she is glad to be back home in the
Northeast, close to family in New York and New Jersey.
Rivera credits her Filipino heritage as the source
of her adventurous spirit and dedication to community. Frances attended
college abroad where she received her Bachelors degree in Journalism from
the University of the Philippines.
When Frances isn’t reporting the news here at
7NEWS, she can be found enjoying a game of golf, taking photos, volunteering
for local children’s charities, or planning her wedding slated for Summer
2003. |
